Our Story

Uncanny, the small bar with a big vibe, was opened in October 2021 by the Bouskila family. As a family, we pour our heart and soul into every aspect of this venue. Our intention is to bring quality cocktails and delicious food to Newtown. The food is inspired by our Mediterranean, European and Australian heritage, all worth sharing ! The cocktails are uniquely curated and inspired by decades in the industry. Nothing makes us happier than providing top tier drinks and food in a safe, inclusive and fun environment.

The name Uncanny comes from the Uncanny X-men, a comic book series first published by Marvel comics in 1963. Their slogan “hated and feared for who they are” is representative of a group of misfits. They are the marginalised, those who step outside of the mainstream. That’s who we are !! Proud to be different, awesomely eclectic and strong in our oddness.
